This is a time of high emotion, and with the Sun in Pisces, you tend to be very aware of other people’s moods and feelings, and also be rather reactive to them too. Emotionally however, this Full Moon in Virgo brings you to a different place. There is an energy around taking a very practical approach to these emotions and their impact on you and your life.
A Ritual to Create Your Own Stability.
For this you will need a small piece of paper and a nice-sized rock; easy to pick up but heavy to hold. An out-of-the-way spot, ideally outside where the moon shines is good too.
Start by considering the person or influence that has the most emotionally disruptive and chaotic impact on your feelings. The one that shows up unexpectedly with demands on your attention. The one that surprises you with unpredictably caring or hurtful actions. The one that suddenly disrupts your plans or goals or dreams without even realizing they’re doing it. It’s like a little bomb going off every time they show up in your life.
It could be a family member, friend, or coworker, or perhaps something arising from the kind of situation you’re in like a job role or a living space, or perhaps even from within yourself.
Consider that troublesome influence for a quiet moment and think about the feelings it creates within you.
Now write your feelings down on a small slip of paper. Or draw them. Or scribble and scratch them. Represent your feelings when that chaotic influence is brought to you on that paper.
Now look at what you’ve put on the paper and see it for what it really is. It’s your reaction.
Now consider what the influence that makes you react that way really is. Maybe it’s someone else’s problems projected towards you. Maybe it’s heartbreak or loss that keeps knocking you off balance. Maybe it’s someone else’s wrong perspective or lack of understanding.
No matter what it is, spend the time until you can see it clearly, separate from your feelings. Look at it. Feel it. Label it and know it. It doesn’t get to surprise you or keep you off balance any more. It’s still there, but you’re taking control of how it affects you. You know it now.
The rock is your stability. It’s okay to be affected, to be angry, to be hurt, to be sad. You will feel these things but they’re not going to shock or surprise you anymore. You won’t be put off balance anymore.
Go outside when the moon is up. Put your paper, on the ground, ideally in an out-of-the-way spot where the moonlight shines. Then set your stability, your rock, down on top of the paper and leave it there. The rock never needs to move for knowing what you’re facing is a powerful step towards control.
And soon, in the near future, the paper will be gone.
While other planets in your chart contribute greatly to who you are, the sign your Sun is in represents a core nature of your personality. It’s where you have your strongest sense of personal identity. It’s what and how you pursue all things in your life and is central to how you approach your career and everything else you work towards and accomplish. Your Sun Sign isn’t restrictive in any way, but it influences how you go about your pursuits.
Sun Sign of Pisces
Having your Sun in Pisces makes you caring, imaginative, sensitive to others, and very aware of the “mood” of any room you’re in. Perhaps you’ve been called a “dreamer” before, and you are naturally creative and possibly artistic if you developed the skills to express your creativity in that way.
Caring for others comes naturally. You usually know quite clearly what others are feeling. Your desire to help others is strong and you may need to learn how to say “no” sometimes. Giving too much can be a risk for your generous nature.
Partners for Pisces
Pisces needs a partner in their life that shows them heartfelt care and love. Of course we all do, but Pisces in particular needs this as they so often give so much of themselves that sometimes they have difficulty learning to receive that same kind of care from others. They also benefit from a partner that brings a grounding influence, without callously trampling on their dreams and feelings.
Strong matches for Pisces:
Taurus, Cancer, Scorpio, Capricorn
Neutral matches for Pisces:
Aries, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Pisces
Challenging matches for Pisces:
Gemini, Sagittarius, Aquarius
So does this mean a Pisces – Gemini relationship is doomed? Of course not. We are far more than just our Sun Signs, and we all learn different lessons in our lives that can make any pairing work in the right circumstances. The above is just a guide to where there are commonly easier and harder aspects to a relationship.
Can a Challenging Match Work?
Let’s consider that Pisces – Gemini couple. Like Pisces, Gemini is changeable and fluid in their approaches to things in life. This similarity is actually one of the main reasons problems can arise. Typically Pisces finds better relationships with those who are different than themselves. But that said, with the right placements of other planets and life experiences, a Gemini and a Pisces could be true soulmates. If they find a way together to make the Gemini more open to what they see as Pisces “neediness” (loves deep, emotional connections) and make Pisces more understanding of Gemini’s divided attention (“yes, of course I love you, but there’s this bright, shiny object over there that I simply must investigate”) they can truly have a love of the ages.
Whenever we talk about Sun Sign compatibility, it’s always a highly generalized discussion. It’s similar to how your Sun Sign alone doesn’t define you as a person. All the planets work together in their placements to describe you as a whole. While only your full birth chart has this information, looking at just the Sun Signs is still a quick “rough guide” to which relationships come with what kinds of harmony and challenge.
This new moon in Aquarius is special. New moons are always good for new beginnings and finding new ways of expressing, feeling, and living your true self. However this one just joined up with a very rare and powerful grouping of planets called a stellium. A stellium, like this powerful Aquarian Stellium, won’t happen again until 2040 — and it won’t have the new moon involved, nor come with such opportunity for supporting personal transformation.
We have a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity during this new moon to receive support and help in becoming who we wish to be. To make the changes, we need to establish new patterns of behavior, renewed relationships with those we cherish, and new ways of living with the world around us in a supportive and helpful way. This isn’t just about deciding to change. It’s actually changing your emotional relationship with the habits, people, and things you want in your life, as well as the ones you don’t. Changing yourself and your life starts from within, and must happen before your life and the world around you will become what you wish them to be.
What To Do
Here is our transforming ritual for this very special new moon in Aquarius. It’s a kind of meditation, but don’t think for a moment that it’s passive. We usually have pretty straightforward rituals to make the most of the astrological influences we feel are important, but this new moon deserves extra attention. It’s great potential to bring change for the better made us want to be sure you could get the most advantage you can. Through this practice you will be actively transforming yourself, and while it’s not easy to do, it can have profound effects on your life.
Read through this meditation completely before trying it.
When you have some uninterrupted time, find yourself a comfortable place to sit or lay down. Spend a moment relaxing your mind, then your body. Think about each thought buzzing in your head, “I need to pick the kids up…”, “I have to remember to tell Joe about that new request…”, “Oh, I don’t know what I’m making for dinner tonight yet…” — let them all go. Those thoughts and demands will still be there when you’re done. Think about each part of your body, starting with your toes and slowly working your way up to the top of your head. Feel each part and as you do, let it relax.
Picture everything in your life around you
When you’re calm, begin to focus on everything around you in your life. Not your to-do list, but the hobbies, sports, job, family, friends, co-workers, pets, car, possessions, food, house, decorations, yard… The good, the bad, the unknown, the unsettling, the loving, the disruptive, the stresses, the joys, the happy moments, the sad, the people in your life… everything. Picture it all around you, floating and slowly swirling.
Focus on trying to keep everything and everyone in your mind at once. Take your time. There’s a lot to focus on. Watch as it all floats and swirls slowly around you. Pay attention to each person or thing and hold it in your mind with all the others as a collective, swirling cloud of everything in your life.
Cocooned within your current world
Keep this cloud in your mind, and imagine it beginning to swirl faster. Now faster. Around and above and below you. Faster still until it all begins to blend together as a semi-solid blur. You still know what each thing is, but you can’t see things individually anymore. Now, though still moving fast, it shrinks closer to you, appearing more and and more solid. It doesn’t touch you, but it moves closer still and closes around you, stopping moving as it forms together into a solid featureless shell, blocking the light, cocooning you.
You are comfortable in this warm, dark place, for you know you are separate from everything around you. You are still aware of everything that makes up that cocoon and now, fully aware within it, with everything stopped, and nothing else to distract you, you begin to explore.
See everything clearly – No outside pressures
Think of how you are with all these things, all these influences and parts of your life. In the quiet, some things will become clear very quickly. Things, activities, people, or events that make your heart swell and bring you joy, satisfaction, or fulfillment. Others that make you feel diminished, upset, or concerned. Others — most — may be more complicated. Or at least they may seem so. When being really honest with ourselves, and when considering only what truly makes us more of who we are and want to be, things can become much clearer. This isn’t about what others want you to want, or what others think you should be. It’s only YOU in here. Look at everything and see it through only your eyes. Through the eyes of who you know you want to be… of who you know you truly are.
Change to be who you truly are
Feel the power of that great collection of planets, focused through the new moon’s emotional and personal energy, breeze around the cocoon and then, slowly at first, seeping through it and through you. The power of change and new possibilities made real. Then more flows through, without affecting the cocoon, but breezing around and through you.
Now change. Take the things you want more of, identify the things you want to be different. See the things that are missing and you want to be in your life, and the things that you want gone completely. Things you cherish and want more of, things you want to stay just the way they are.
Use this power to focus and picture how you will be the changes you want in your life. Feel the strength you have to get rid of what you don’t want around you. Feel the strength to create and attract what you want to be present. Are you kinder to others? Are you more expressive with gratitude? Are you more supportive to this person you love, and perhaps less indulgent with someone who pulls you down? You are changing. Love and embrace even closer the things you cherish, and feel how you will be to change things you want to be different.
Look at everything in your life. Feel how you will be with it. Does it stay or does it go? Is it a part of you or is it something you no longer desire? Rediscover and re-invent who you are to bring about the changes in your world. Changes that will bring you the most joy.
Make these changes within yourself real
Keep all this in your mind at once, just as you kept your old world in mind when forming the cocoon. Create your new self and your new world within the cocoon of what was. See the changes in how you are. The way you act. The things you do. The emotions you feel. The things that will be your world. The people that will be around you.
Capture this all-encompassing experience in your mind. Yourself and your world that is to become. You are that change.
Indulge in this feeling and vision. Use the power flowing through the cocoon of what used to be to solidify this new you. Make this real.
You have the power to be who you are.
Now, consider the cocoon of what was. How different it felt.
Break through the cocoon, transformed
When you’re ready, summon all the energy of your new self and break through that cocoon. You don’t need it anymore. You have your new world to live in.
Those around you have not transformed, but you have. Keep that moment of transformation in your mind and know that the changes you make within yourself bring the changes to the world around you.
Live your new self and your world will change.
Reinforce this new you every night
Each night, revisit the changes you’ve set as you drift off to sleep. Remember and feel what it was to have all your chosen world within you in that cocoon. Remember breaking through your old world and bringing it with you, for you are that change.
There’s quite the gathering going on in the sky right now and there’s really no way to ignore it.
What is it?
This started with the Great Conjunction of 2020, and now we have not only Jupiter and Saturn together in Aquarius, but also the Sun, Mercury, and now Venus coming to join the party too. And let’s not forget Pluto who’s hanging out right nearby at the edge of Capricorn. All of these planets coming together is called a stellium, which inevitably brings a lot of focused energy in one particular area.
In this case, it’s all happening in Aquarius so it’s going to be about changes and finding new ways of doing things. It will emphasize being open to experimenting and exploring unconventional approaches to problems. Problems that affect not only ourselves, but our societies as a whole. This is a very Big Picture moment and it’s time to get things straightened out and going down a better path for everyone.
This will not be without challenges however. We have Mars and Uranus in Taurus squaring this stellium creating some resistance to action and change. Mercury is also retrograde until February 21st, requiring us to be careful with our thoughts and how we communicate with others.
But this collection of planets will not be denied. Jupiter wants to help, Saturn demands progress, Venus pursues improvement and Mercury retrograde brings deep thought. Combining Pluto in Capricorn’s energy for large-scale, practical transformation with all the others focused in Aquarius, we have all the tools and the energy we need to overcome obstacles and improve.
What to Do
Use this time to come up with new ideas and experiment with how things are done to find ways that provide the most benefit. You shouldn’t worry too much about getting things exactly right. Just try things. Explore options and experiment. This is a time to learn so you can get things set up perfectly once things are all figured out.
Oh, and this stellium will also become even MORE intense next week with the new moon joining in as well!
A quick note about Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius. This is a great time for re-evaluating some of your habits and routine behaviors. Maybe it’s not the smoothest time for outward communications, but it’s a great time for introspection.
Use this Mercury retrograde time of the Aquarian stellium to clean your mental house. Try to clear out the things that are stopping you from making changes. Are you doing anything out of habit or routine when it really doesn’t seem to be working for you? Or perhaps not as well as it should? Take a critical look at how you think about things and how you solve problems. It’s okay if you don’t know a better way right now. It’s enough to take that first, big step of saying to yourself that it’s alright to let go of that habit or routine that’s holding you back. You don’t need to change it. Just recognize that you can and that you want to. Free yourself from constraints you’ve put on yourself and be open to change when you figure out what that is going to be.
This full moon in Leo is about big emotions and finding a sense of satisfaction with the things you do that benefit not only yourself, but everyone around you as well, virtually or otherwise. You have an impact on the world and it’s time to celebrate that!
Leo Full Moon Ritual
Consider the things you do… the things that bring you joy and come from within. The things you can’t help but do.
Write down the ways these actions and behaviors can or do benefit those around you. Write each one on a small piece of paper. These are empowering statements of how you help those close to you, just by being who you are.
Put the pieces of paper in a see-through container or bowl and set it on a window sill — or outside — where the moonlight can shine on them for one or more nights around the full moon.
Afterwards, collect them and arrange these moon-energized statements where you sit at your desk, where you sleep, where you meditate or read. Anywhere you’re spending time, keep these close to you and visible as a charged reminder of the difference you make by just being yourself.
There’s been a lot of helpful energy for focusing on setting large goals and making big plans to improve your life recently. There was the Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius and the Great Conjunction whose effects are still very much at work. Appropriately enough these occurred right around the beginning of a new year when people are making plans and commitments to start new things and do things differently.
Now we have a challenge to that helpful energy, where we begin to question what we’re doing as we move from just thinking about our plans to actually putting them into action.
But the flip side to that is you only feel these new doubts arise because you are making the changes and taking the action. You certainly need to make sure that what you’re doing is the right thing for you to reach your goals, but these questions come up when you start making things real. These doubts come up when other people can see you creating changes and when you are seeing your efforts have an impact on the way you go through your day to day activities. They come up when progress is being made!
Know that having doubts is normal. Everyone who has succeeded at something has had doubts along the way, and they’re being highlighted right now. This is the time to deal with them, as you’re more able to take a clear look at what you’re doing and how you’re doing it.
Are there things you could be doing better? Are you on a path to realize the gains you’re hoping for? This is the perfect time to explore these questions and do a double-check as best as you can to make sure you’re on-target, and if it seems like you are, then get back to it and keep going!
This is a challenging time, and a time to assess your approach, but then get right back to making the changes you need in your life.
The sign your Sun is in represents a core nature of your personality. It’s where you have your strongest sense of personal identity. It’s what and how you pursue all things in your life and is central to how you approach your career and everything else you work towards and accomplish. Your Sun Sign isn’t restrictive in any way, but it influences how you go about your pursuits.
A person with their Sun in Leo is likely to be confident, generous, and enjoy being recognized for their accomplishments. Someone else may have their Sun in Aquarius, who tends to have a strong freedom-loving streak, puts a high value on independence, and enjoys helping others.
Let’s say both the Leo and the Aquarius make a donation to charity. The Leo will, generally, be happier if their contribution is recognized — if people see them as charitable. The Aquarius is less likely to care about that kind of recognition. Does this mean all Leo’s want to be publicly recognized? No, but they all have that desire for recognition, even if it’s not overtly on display. Maybe they enjoy the respect of their peers at work, or the “likes” in their online community, or maybe they are fully public and pursue a life in politics, or public-speaking, or acting.
Every sign has characteristics that are emphasized. Your Sun Sign indicates a way where you’ll be happiest focusing your energies, where you’ll have the greatest interest in achieving and experiencing. It’s where you’ll find a large piece of the puzzle of who you are and what will make you feel the most rewarded.
“Emotions are the focus of this full moon’s light. Take care of yourself. Embrace those close to you and let them know how much they matter. Avoid sour people or those who don’t have your best interests at heart if you at all can. You don’t need their influence in your life right now.
Find a calm time where you can sit alone for a bit, perhaps with a favorite tea, blanket, or other warming comforts, and dive deep into your emotions. Allow yourself to feel everything that you’ve been experiencing for the last six months. After a while, let yourself explore three things:
1. What you don’t want to feel in your life anymore
2. What you have that you cherish and brings you joy and warmth
3. The feelings that you desire to experience
Allowing all the feelings to flow is often challenging, but being aware of them helps you make better decisions.
This full moon is a great time for a show of care to others who may be struggling. If you’re willing to be there for someone who needs it, approach them now and let them know you’re there for them.”
You’ve likely always known what your sign is. But why that one? How does it work?
As we look up at the sky from Earth, we can see the Sun, the Moon, and many of the planets in our solar system positioned in front of different areas of the sky we refer to as constellations.
Constellations are commonly known as collections of stars that look – very roughly – like certain types of creatures or characters. One example is Leo, which looks like a lion.
Another is Gemini, which looks like two people, twins, holding hands.
There are a set of twelve constellations that the planets, Moon, and Sun spend almost all their time in — they’re the ones you’ve heard of:
March 21 – April 19
April 20 – May 20
May 21 – June 20
June 21 – July 22
July 23 – Aug. 22
Aug. 23 – Sept. 22
Sept. 23 – Oct. 22
Oct. 23 – Nov. 21
Nov. 22 – Dec. 21
Dec. 22 – Jan. 19
Jan. 20 – Feb. 18
Feb. 19 – March 20
As the planets orbit the sun, and the Moon orbits the Earth, they are seen to move against the starry backdrop of these constellations and we say they are in a “sign”, named for each of these constellations as they move through the sky.
You are the sign you are because when you were born, the Sun was positioned in front of that particular constellation. That’s why your sign is more properly called your “Sun Sign”. As the Earth orbits the Sun over the course of a year, the Sun appears to move steadily through each of these constellations in a great circle in the sky, which is why people born around the same time of the year share the same Sun Sign.
Does this mean that everyone with the same Sun Sign are basically the same according to astrology? Absolutely not! There is much more to what astrology says about you than just your Sun Sign, but it IS an important part of who you are.
